MERITS OF UMRAH

وَأَتِمُّوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ لِلَّهِ

“And perform Hajj (greater pilgrimage) and ‘Umrah (lesser
pilgrimage) for Allah…” (Surah Baqarah, Verse 196)

Ahadith

Allah’s beloved said: ‘Hajj is jihad and Umrah is Nafli (optional) worship’.
(Musnad Ahmad, volume 3, page 316)

Huzoor  said: ‘Without a doubt, Umrah is a minor Haj”

(Daru-Qatni, volume 2, page 285)

Our Beloved Prophet said: ‘An Umrah is a compensation for the sins committed between this Umrah and the previous one.

(Bukhari, volume 1, page 238)

Huzoor said: ‘The best deed is an accepted Hajj or Umrah’. (Ahmad Tabarani)

Huzoor said: ‘Those who perform Hajj or Umrah are the congregations of Allah; their prayers are answered and if they ask for His forgiveness, they are forgiven.’

(Ibn Majah, page 208)

Huzoor said: ‘The performing of Hajj and Umrah is Jihad for the old, the weak and women’.

(Targheeb, volume 2, page 105)

Huzoor told to Ummul Mumineen, You will Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa (رضي الله عنها) receive your reward according to your difficulties and the amount that you spend from your wealth’.

(Targheeb, volume 2, page 113)

In this Hadith, we are advised to spend our wealth.

Huzoor plug We all who said: ‘Performing Umrah during the month of Ramadhan is equal to
performing Hajj with me”.

(Targheeb, volume 2, page 115)

WEARING THE IHRAM FOR UMRAH FROM MASJID-E-AQSA

Huzoor we will coles has said: ‘The one who wears his Ihraam for Umrah, from Bait-ul-Muqadas, has his sins forgiven. (Targheeb, volume 2, page 121)

Another Hadith mentions: ‘Anyone who wears his Ihraam for Hajj or Umrah, from Masjid-e-Aqsa and
then travels towards Masjid-e-Haraam have all his sins forgiven and Jannah becomes Wajib upon him.
(Targheeb, volume 2)

COMMAND FOR UMRAH

According to Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifah, for the one who possesses the means, it is an emphasized Sunnah (Mu’akkadah) that he performs Umrah’. (Lubaab, page 508)

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAJJ & UMRAH

Umrah can be performed at any time throughout the year, except during the days of Hajj. However, for the performance of Hajj specific days (Arafah), a specific place (Arafaat), and a specific month (Dhul Hijjah) are important.

It is Makruh to perform Umrah from the 9th till the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. (Al-Lubaab, page 508)

FARAIZ (OBLIGATIONS) OF UMRAH

Two things are Farz (obligatory) in Umrah:

1. Tawaaf 2. Ihraam.

Niyyat and Talbiyyah are Farz for the Ihraam of Umrah, just like they are
Farz for the Ihraam of Hajj. (Sharh-ul-Lubaab, page 509)

WAJIBAAT OF UMRAH

Two things are Wajib in Umrah:
1. The sa’y between Safa and Marwah;
2.The shaving or trimming of the hair of the
head.

 ACTIONS OF UMRAH

There are 4 actions in the performance of Umrah:

  1.  Wearing the Ihraam for Umrah at the Miqaat;
  2. Going to Makkah Muazzamah and performing Tawaaf;
  3. Performing Sa’y between Safa and Marwah;
  4. Shaving or trimming the hair.

METHOD OF UMRAH

The method of performing Umrah will now be explained.

When Muslim men or women begin their journey to Umrah, they should ensure that they have their Ihraam on from the Miqat. Those who travel via airplane will find ease in putting on their Ihraam before they reach their Miqat. The Mustahab (recommended) way of wearing the Ihraam is:

  1. Perform ghusl;
  2. Remove dirt from the body;
  3. Clip nails;
  4. Shape the beard;
  5. Remove unwanted hair from the body;
  6. Cut hair or just comb;
  7. Apply oil to the hair;
    Apply fragrance to the body;
  8. Then men should wrap a chadar (upper piece) around the top half of their bodies, wrap a tehband (lower piece) around their waists;
  9. If you have Wudhu then that is fine, otherwise perform Wudhu;
  10. Then read 2 Rakaat Sunnat with the intention of Ihraam. In this Namaaz, men should cover their heads;
  11. In the same place, sit facing the Qiblah and make the Niyat (intention) for Umrah;
  12. Say ‘Labbaik’ 3 times (men should say this loudly and women quietly);
  13. Read Durood Shareef upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه و سلم)

INTENTION (NIYYAT)

“اللهم إني أريد العمرة فيسرها لي و تقبلها مني، نويت العمرة و أحرمت بها لله تعالى فإن حبسني حابس فمحلي حيث حبستني”

‘O, Allah. I make the intention for Umrah, make it easy for me and accept it from me, and help me with it, and bless me in it, I’ve intended to do Umrah and done. it’s ihram, for Allah’.

TALBIYYAH

لبیک اللهم لبیک لبیک لاشریک لک لبیک
إن الحمد والټعمة لك والملك لا شریک لک

‘I have arrived, O Allah large I have arrived, I have arrived. You have no partner. Indeed all praise and blessings are for You and the kingdom (of the universe) is also for You. You have no partner’.

Read 2 Rakaat with the Niyyat of Ihraam. After Surah Fatiha, it is recommended to read Surah Kafiroon in the 1st Rakat and Surah Ikhlas in the 2nd Rakat.

ENTERING MAKKAH MUAZZAMAH AND REMAINING ACTS OF UMRAH

Upon arrival in Makkah-e-Muazamah, lower your head and gaze and enter the city with the utmost respect and humility. Your luggage should be placed in a safe place and after performing ghusl or wudhu; make your way towards Masjid-e-Haraam.

Enter the Masjid reading Durood Shareef and the Dua for entering a Masjid and make the intention for Nafli Itikaaf. The etiquette of entering the Masjid is that you should enter with your right foot first and leave with your left foot first.

If there is plenty of time to read Namaaz, then perform Tawaaf of the Holy Kabah before doing anything else. At your first glance at the Kabah-e-Muazamah, pray for your own forgiveness and happiness and for
the forgiveness and happiness of your family, relatives, friends, and all Muslims.

Allahu Akbar! This is the moment of acceptance. Ensure that you read Durood Shareef at the beginning and end of your Dua because this guarantees acceptance of your prayers. Before starting Tawaal, men should place the Chadar under their right arms and put it over their left shoulders, so that they’re right
shoulders are uncovered and both ends of the Chadar hang over their left shoulders.

After this, face the Kabah Shareef in such a manner that the Hajar-e-Aswad is on your right side. Then, do the Niyyat for Tawaal:

NIYAT (INTENTION) FOR TAWAAF

اللهم إني أريد طواف بیتک الحرام فيسيره لى وتقبله مني

“O Allah Jews intend to perform Tawaf of your Holy House, so make this easy for me and accept it from me.”

After saying this Niyyat, whilst still facing the Kabah step towards the right so that the Hajar-e-Aswad is
directly in front of you. Then raise your hands to your ears in such a manner that the palms of your hands face the Hajar-e-Aswad, and then read:

بسم الله و الحمد لله و الله اکبر، و الصلوة و السلام على رسول الله

In the name of Allah, and all praise is for Allah and
Allah is the Greatest and peace and Messings be upon the
Messenger of All

If possible place both palms on the Hajar-e-Aswad and kiss it by placing your mouth between your hands (do not make any sound when Sing the Hajar-e-Aswad).

If you get the chance to do this, then you are extremely fortunate because our Holy Prophet has
kissed this Hajar-e-Aswad. If it is not possible for you to get this close to the Hajar-e-Aswad then avoid
causing harm to yourself or others and just try to touch the Hajar-e-Aswad with your hands or a stick.

If even this is not possible, then from far lift your hands in the direction of the Hajar-e-Aswad and then kiss your hands (do this while looking at the place where our Prophet kissed the Hajar-e-Aswad).

اللهم إيمانا بك و إثباغا لسنة نبيك
محمد صلى الله تعالى عليه و سلم

‘O Allah, I perform this Tawaf whilst believing in You and practicing the Sunnah of Your Prophet Hazrat Muhammad.

Saying the above, take a step to your so that the Hajar e-Aswad is no longer directly in front of you, then tum to your right so that the Holy Kabah is on your left side.

For the first 3 circulations, men should walk around the Kabah Uriskly and defiantly while jutting their
shoulders, in the manner, that a brave and strong man would do so, this is called ‘Raml’.

All Pilgrims should pay special attention to ensuring that they do not cause harm to other Pilgrims while
performing Raml. If you feel that, due to a large number of Pilgrims, you may cause harm to yourself or
others, then leave the Raml until later.

During Tawaaf the closer you are to the Kabah the better, but not so close that your clothes or body touch the Kabah if you find difficulty in performing the Raml, due to a large number of Pilgrims, then staying further away is better.

When you reach the Multazam; then Rukn-e-Iraqi: then the Mizaab-ul-Rahmah and then the Rukn-e-Shami, remember that these are places where Duas (prayers) should be made.

There are specific Prayers that can be made at these points, but they are difficult to learn by heart therefore you can practice something which according to our Beloved Prophet Muhammad’s true
a promise is better and much more acceptable, meaning instead of praying for yourself, spend this time, in these places and everywhere else, sending Durood upon Hazrat Muhammad, the Chosen One.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad said: ‘If you do this, then Allah will fulfill all your requests and forgive all your sins. (Targheeb, volume 2, page 501)

During Tawaaf, make Dua and while walking you should read Durood Shareef, you should ensure as not
to make Dua or read Durood Shareef too loudly, just enough to ensure that your voice reaches your own ears.

When you arrive at Rukn-e-Yamani, touch it with either both hands or just your right hand, for blessings; don’t touch it with your left hand; touching it with a wooden stick or pointing towards it with your hands and then kissing them should be avoided; if it does not have any fragrance on it.

As you move forward from here, you will arrive at mustahabb (the wall between Rukn-e-Yamani & Rukn-e-Aswad), where 70 thousand Angels say ‘Ameen’ to the Duas that people make, at that moment, read the Dua:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

“O our Lord! Grant us goodness in this world and the world hereafter and save us from the fire of Hell

20

Then pray for yourself, your family, and all Muslims, and it is requested that you read Durood Shareef on
behalf of the author of this book as well.

Now, when you reach the Hajar-e-Aswad again, after walking around the Kabah, then you have completed one round of your Tawaaf. Kiss the Hajar-e-Aswad or follow any of the advice mentioned above about touching the Hajare-Aswad, you should repeat this practice each time you reach the Hajar-e-Aswad, for all 7 of your rounds during Tawaaf.

Furthermore, remember that you do not need to make your Niyyat again because that was done at the
beginning of the 1st round; Raml is only done in the first 3 rounds; during the last 4 men should walk at a normal pace without jutting their shoulders. When you have completed the 7th round, kiss or touch
the Hajar Aswad with your hands or a stick. After completing your Tawaaf, go to Maqam-e-Ibrahim and read the following Ayat:

واتخذوا من مقام إبراهيم مصلى

“…and take the place where Ibrahim stood, as your place of prayer;” (Surah Baqarah Verse 125)

After this, reading 2 Rakaat Namaaz for Tawaaf is Wajib. In the 1st Rakat, you should read Surah was, and in the 2nd Rakaat Surah Ikhlas.

You should only read this if it is not a Makruh time, otherwise, wait until the Makruh time has passed and then read this Namaaz (3 Makruh times are; sunrise, midday and after Asr Namaaz till sunset), after this Namaaz is completed make Dua.

Then go to the Multazam and hold on to it near the Hajar-e-Aswad, touch the Multazam with your chest,
stomach and forehead and place both hands above your head when touching the Multazam or place your
right hand on the Multazam and your left hand on the Hajar-e-Aswad and make Dua. The Dua to be read
here is:

يا واجد یا ماجد و تزل عنى نعمة انعمتها على

“O Powerful One, O Great One, do not take away the virtue that you have blessed me with.

It is stated in a Hadith that Our Dear Prophet Hazrat Muhammad said: ‘Whenever I want, I see
Jibraeel and clinging on to the Multazam and reading this Dua’.

Then you should drink ZamZam water in 3 breaths while facing the Kabah, each time start with Bismillah Hir Rahma Nir Raheem. Pour some on your body and while drinking ZamZam water make Dua, it will be accepted. Hazrat Muhammad said: ‘ZamZam water is for whatever it is drunk for.

  • It should be drunk with the intentions that we do not feel thirsty on the Day of Qiyamah;
  • we are saved from the punishments of the grave;
  • for an increase in love for Hazrat Muhammad;
  • for blessings in wealth;
  • relief from illness;
  • acquisition of knowledge and death with Imaan (Faith) and other specific needs.

Now return to Hajar-e-Aswad so that you can start your Sa’y between Safa and Marwah. Upon reaching Hajar-e-Aswad, say the Takbeer and kiss the Hajar-e- Aswad.

Then go towards Safa through Baab-e-Safa, the method of leaving through the door is to leave with your left foot, this should be the method used whenever leaving any Masjid.

Climb the stairs of Safa so that you can see the Kabah, ensuring that you are constantly busy praising
Allah and reading Durood upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad Then face the Kabah and raise your hands for Dua up till your shoulders; spend this time in the Zikr of Allah, durood upon Rasulullah and Dua, because here Duas are accepted.

After Dua make the intention for Sa’y in the following manner:
اللهم إني اريد السعي بين الصفا والمروة سبعة أشواط لوجهك الكريم فيسيره لى وتقبله منی۔

24

O Allah, I make the intention of performing Sa’y between Safa and Marwah, 7 times, for Your Pleasure, make this easy for 1e and accept it from me.

Then climb down from Safa and walk towards Marwah, your recitation of Zikr and Durood Shareef should not stop. When the first green light begins, men should start running until they go past the second green light. The Dua read at this point is:

رب اغفرلی و ارحم وانت الأعز الأكرم
O my Lord, forgive me and shower me with Your Mercy, for You are the only one who is the Most Respected and the Most Merciful.

After passing the second green light, slow down until you reach Marwah, here you should climb the first step of Marwah or just stand near it. Due to the construction of many buildings, you will not be able to see the Kabah, however, you should still tum towards the Kabah and praise Allah, recite Durood Shareef, and make Dua (as he put did at Safa), after this, you have completed one round. From here, go towards Safa, keeping yourself busy in Zikr Durood and Dua.

When you reach the Greenlights start to run and then slow down once you have passed the second Green
lights. Do this until you have completed your 7th round at Marwah and in each round the method is
exactly the same. This is called Sa’y.

The one performing Umrah should start saying ‘Labbaik’ from the start of his Tawaat of the Kabah
Shareef and stop as soon as he has kissed the Hajar-e- Aswad.

After performing Tawaaf, Sa’y, etc men should have all their hair shaven off (Halq) or just trimmed (Taqseer); women should only have one finger digit of their hair cut. After the Halq or Taqseer have been done, all the acts of Umrah have been fulfilled and now you can remove your lhraam.

26

MIQAAT

Miqaat is the name of that place from where it is not permissible for anyone to enter Makkah Muazzamah without their thraam, even if he is entering Makkah Muazzamah for trade purposes or any other reason, There are 5 Miqaats:

  • Dhul Hulallah – this is the Miqaat for pilgrims who come to Makkah Muazzamah from
    Madinah Shareef. Nowadays, this place is known as Abyaar-e-Ali Pilgrims from other countries, who go to Madinah Shareef and then come to Makkah Muazzamah, also put on their lhraam from this place.
  • Dhaat-e-Irq – this is the Miqaat for pilgrims coming from Iraq.
  • Juhfah – this is the Miqat for pilgrims coming from Syria.
  • Qam – this is the Miqaat for pilgrims coming from Najd (Riyad).
  • Yalamlam is the Miqaat for pilgrims coming from Yemen.

27

These Miqaats are for those who have been mentioned above and anyone who passes by any of these Miqaats on his way to Makkah Muazzamah has to consider the Miqaat he passes.

If he does not pass by any Miqaat, then when he nears any Miqaat, he should put on his ihram. (Bahare
Shariat, volume 6, page 35)

If anyone passes a Miqaat without putting on his ihraam and then enters Makkah Muazzamah in this state, then, even though he didn’t have the intention of performing Umrah, an Umrah still becomes Wajib upon him. Furthermore, if he puts on his thraam in Makkah Muazzamah and doesn’t return back to the Miqaat, then Dam (sacrifice) becomes Wajib upon him.

However, if he returns to the Miqaat and puts on his Ihraam, then he does not need to give Dam; and if he performs the Umrah that had become Wajib upon him, then he has compensated for his act of entering Makkah Muazamah without lhraam. (Bahar-e-Shariat, volume 6, page 146)

28

IHRAAM OF A WOMAN

The thraam of a woman is the same as the Thraam of a man, except that it is Wajib upon a woman to cover her hair; she is not allowed to place any cloth on her face and she is allowed to wear sewn clothes. A woman is allowed to wear socks and shoes as part of her lhraam, however, it is better that she doesn’t. A woman shouldn’t read Talbiyyah loudly; she should read in such a tone that her voice reaches her own ears. (Sharh-ul-Lubaab, page 127/127)

A menstruating woman is allowed to fulfill all the acts of Umrah, except the Tawaaf. If she starts menstruating before putting on her Ihraam, then she should do ghusl and without reading the 2 Rakaat for Thraam, make her Niyyat, read the Talbiyyah, and then go to Makkah Muazamah. Once her bleeding has stopped and she has purified herself via ghusl, she may perform the Tawaaf and the Sa’y. (Common Books)

29

IHRAAM OF A SMALL CHILD OR INSANE MUSLIM

The guardian (wali) of a small child will help him put on his lhraam. The guardian should remove any sewn clothes from the child’s body and then wrap him in the chadar (upper piece) and tehband (lower piece).

The guardian should not read Namaaz or perform Tawaaf on behalf of the child; if the child makes any
mistakes, there is no penalty (dam). The guardian should carry the child during the performing of Tawaaf and Sa’y between Sara and Marwah.

When the guardian is making his niyyah for Ihraam, Tawaaf, and Sa’y, he should make niyyat on behalf of the child too Also, these same rulings apply to the Thraam of a person who is not mentally sound. (Sharh-ul-Lubaab, page 124/125)

MASAIL ABOUT TAWAAN

Niyyats Para in Tawaf, without IT Tawaf is not valid. However, it is not required that the Niyyat about a specific Tawaat; just making a general Niyyat for Tawaal is enough furthermore, if a Tawaf is required to be performed particular moment then if at that moment a person makes the Niyyat for another Tawaal, this Tawaf will I considered the first one and not the 2nd one that he Intender, for example, he puts on his thram for Umrah while outside Miqaal, then he comes and crfonin his Tawal, this will be his Tawaaf for Umrah even if this wasn’t in his intention. (Sharh-ul-Lubaal, page 161)

In the chapter of the method of Umrah, the explanation is given on how to perform Tawaalf anyone doesn’t perform their Tawaal according to the method given for example if he starts his Tawaal from the left with the Holy Kabah on his right, or he performs his Twaal while turning his face or back to the Kabah Shareef or le does not start his Tawast from the Hajare-Aswad, then in all such cases as long as he is in Makkah Muazzamah, he needs to ensure that he repeats his
Tawaaf.

However, if he leaves Makkah Muazzamah without repeating his Tawaaf; then Dam (compensation)
becomes necessary (Wajib) upon him. In the same way, performing tawaaf from inside the Hateem is
prohibited (na-jaiz), & should be repeated. (Bahare Shariat, volume 6, page 63)

Tawaaf finishes on the 7th round, if he starts the sth round on purpose, then he has started a new Tawaaf
and therefore should complete it by performing 7 rounds. In the same way, if he starts the 8th round, on
the basis of suspicion & waswasa, thinking that he only performed 6 rounds then he should complete it by performing 7 rounds of Tawaaf again. However, if he thought that this sth round was his 7th round, and then, later on, realized that it wasn’t it was the Sth), then he should stop after this round and there is no need to complete the whole 7 rounds again. (Shami with Durr-e-Mukhtaar, volume 3, page 508/509)

38

During the Tawaal, if he forgets how many rounda he perlummedthen if the Tawaal is Parz or Wajib, he
should start the 7 rounds again and it a trustworthy person tells him how many rounds he’s performed, it’s preferable to believe him Ir two trustworthy people tell him the number of rounds they’ve seen him perform, then he should definitely believe them and complete his Tawaal according to what they say. If the tawanl is not farz or wajib then he should act according to his own personal Inclination (Shami, page 509)

If an ill person asks his friends to hire someone to help him perform Tawaal and then he falls asleep, then the employee comes immediately and helps him with the tawaaf, then the Tawaal is complete. If his friend Mart doing something else and bring the employee later and the Tawaaf is performed while he is still asleep, then the Tawaal is not complete, but the employee must still be paid. If you have made the intention for Tawaaf and are also helping an ill person perform Tawaal; then both

Tawaafs are accepted even if they are two different types of Tawaaf. (Alamgiri, volume 1, page 236)
If you started your Tawaaf and stop during it in order to do Wudhu, then upon returning you should
continue your Tawaal from where you had left it and complete the number of rounds that were left. (Shami, volume 3, page 509)

TAWAAF OF AN ILL PERSON

A person whose wudhu frequently breaks due to illness or a constantly bleeding wound needs to
perform new Wudhu at the start of each Namaaz time; therefore if after 4 rounds of Tawaaf, the time for
Namaaz finishes, he should repeat his Wudhu and continue with his Tawaaf from the 5th round. If the time Namaaz finishes before he managed to perform 4 rounds, then he should still repeat his Wudhu and complete the rounds; however, in this case (only did less than 4 rounds) it’s better if he starts his 7
rounds again from the beginning.

RAML DURING TAWAAF

Raml is only Sunnah in the 1st three rounds of Tawaal and to perform Raml in all 7 rounds is disliked
(Makruh). Therefore, If he did not perform Raml in the 1st round, then he should only do it in the 2nd and 3rd rounds if he did not perform Raml in the 1st three rounds, he should not perform it in the last 4 rounds; il, due to a mass number of pilgrims, he is unable to perform Raml, then he shouldn’t stop for raml & should instead perform his Towaal without Raml and do it wherever he gets the chance; if he has not started his Tawaal and is aware that due to the number of pilgrims he will not get the chance to do Raml and that later on, he will get the chance to perform Raml, then he should wait and perform his Tawaaf later. IDHTIBAH IN TAWAAF

Idhtibah (uncovering of right shoulder) is Sunnah in all 7 rounds of Tawaal. It should not be done after the performance of Tawaaf, in fact, it is Makruh to do Idhtibah during the Namaaz after Tawaaf. (Bahare Shariat, volume 6, page 56)

NAMAAZ-E-TAWAAF

It is Wajib to read 2 Rakat Namaaz after every Tawaaf and the best place to read this Namaaz is behind the Maqaam-e-Ibrahim; the 2nd best place is inside the Kabah Shareef; then inside the Hateem, under the Mizaab-e-Rahmat, if that’s not possible, then anywhere inside the Haleem; or anywhere as close as possible to the Kabah Shareef; if you don’t find space in any of these places, then read the Namaaz anywhere inside Masjid-e-Haraam; or anywhere inside Haram, wherever you find space.

It is Sunnat that this Namaaz is read straight after Tawaaf, providing it is not any of the Makruh times. A time gap shouldn’t be left between Tawaaf and this Namaaz, however, if it is not read straight away then it can be read at any time during your lifetime, even after you have returned back to your homeland; it will adaa not Qadha, however, to leave it this long is disliked, as you’ll have missed a Sunnah. (Sharh-ul- Lubaab, page 171)

HARAAM ACTS IN TAWAAF, EVEN NAFL TAWAAF

  • Performing Tawaaf without Wudhu;
  • To leave uncovered one-quarter of any part of the body that is must be covered (Sitr), for example, thigh (of men and women) or the ear of a woman;
  • Without reason, performing Tawaaf on an animal or any other carriage; in someone’s lap or on someone’s shoulders;
  • Without reason, performing Tawauf while crawling;
  • Performing less than 7 rounds in Tawaaf;

DISLIKED (MAKRUH) ACTS IN TAWAAF

  • Talking needlessly;
  • Selling;
  • Buying;
  • Reading poetry apart from Hamd, Naat, or Manqabat;
  • Doing Zikr in a loud voice;
  • Without reason, leaving a long gap between rounds, meaning completing some rounds then taking a long break or busying yourself in other work before completing the other rounds;
  • Eating during Tawaal;
  • Continuing with your Tawaaf despite the need of going to the toilet or breaking wind;
  • During Tawaaf, you can walk in front of anyone reading Namaaz, because Tawaal is like
    Namaaz;
  • To complete one Tawaaf and then start another without reading the Namaaz for Tawaaf.
    However, if it is one of the Makruh times, then you perform Tawaafs one after the other without reading the Namaaz, but after the Makruh time has passed you should read 2 Rakaats for each Tawaaf that you have completed.

(Fatawa-e-Razawiyah, volume 10, page 744/745)

SA’Y OF SAFA AND MARWAH PERMISSIBLE (MUBAH) ACTS DURING TAWAAF AND SA’Y

  • Saying, Salaam;
  • Answering the Salaam;
  • Drinking water;
  • Quietly reciting Hamd, Naat, or Manqabat;
  • Eating during the Sa’y;
  • Due to necessity, speaking or asking for a fatwa;
  • Giving a Fatwa;
  • Like tawaaf, It is sinful to perform Sa’y while on a carriage or while sitting down, without any valid reason to do this;

MAKRUH ACTS DURING SA’Y

  • Without reason, leaving a long gap between the performance of each Sa’y round;
  • Buying or selling;
  • Speaking meaninglessly;
  • Not climbing Safa or Marwah;
  • Without any reason for a man to not run during the Sa’y;
  • To leave a long time gap before performing Sey after having performed Tawal;
  • Not covering the parts of the body that are part of the Site for men and women;
  • To needlessly look here and there during Sa’y. this is even more disliked during Tawaal;
  • It is allowed to perform Sa’y without Wudhu. however, performing with Wudhu preferable (Mustahab) (Fatawa-e-Razawiyah, volume 10, page 745)

If it is not any of the Makruh times then it is preferable to perform 2 Rakaat Namaaz Inside the Man
Sey (Durre-Muhtar with Shumi, page 515)

the reason, then Kafarah becomes Wabup Nimals and in this case, he has to fulfill the Kafarah as well as ask forgiveness for the sin, it is not enough to just fulfill them without repentance. However, the violation is committed unintentionally due to a good reason then only the Kafarah is enough.

The Kafarah becomes Wajib upon the Muhrim whether the violation is committed accidentally or unconsciously, whether he knows it was a violation or he doesn’t whether he committed time or committed it on command from someone else.

In this book where it is mentioned that a Dam needs to be given, it means that one sheep or goat needs to be sacrificed. Where it is mentioned that Sadaqah needs to be given, it means that half a Soal of wheat in this day and a half a Sa 25 kg in weight – Misbah) or its price.

It has to be noted that the violation was committed due to illness, extremely hot weather, extreme cold
weather, injury, extreme discomfort due to a spot or lice; then this is an involuntary violation, and so the

then the Kafarah will have to fulfill but to purposely go against the rulings of Allah is extremely sinful.

The sacrifice of Kalarak can only be done inside Haram Share it is done outside of Haram Sve then the
Kafarah is not fulfilled. Also, the Kalara sacrifice should be given to the poor, the rich should not eat it.

If fasts are kept for the Malarah then it must be noted that the Niyyat for the last should be made before
sunrise and in the Niyyat it should be mentioned that this is the fast for such and such a Kalarah”, the Niyats made for a general fast or a nalli fast then the Kalarah will not have been fulfilled. The fasts do not have to be kept consecutively. In Haram Shareef or while in thram (Bahar-e-Shariat, volume 6 page 124/125)

MISCELLANEOUS RULINGS APPLYING PERFUME OR OIL

If so much perfume is applied that it appears a lot to onlookers, even if it was applied to a small part of the body, or if a huge part (head, face, thigh, or shin) has

50

51

regardless of whether or not the 1st Kafarah was fulfilled before applying the perfume the 2nd time
(Durre-Mukhtar with Shami, volume 3 page 573/574)

If fragranced fruits or flowers are smelt – such as lemons, oranges, roses, etc – then no Kafarah is Wajib,
even though is disliked (Macruh) for a Muhrim to smell any fragrance (Radd ul Mukhtar, volume 3. page
573)

If something fragranced is touched, and the fragrance comes onto the body and totally covers any large part of the body, then give Dam, and it’s less, then give Sadaqah. For example, the fragrance is usually applied to the Hajar Aswad, therefore, if in the state of thraam, while kissing the Hajar Aswad a lot of fragrance gets onto the body then give Dam and if only a little gets onto the body then give Sadaqah. Another example is that if fragranced surma is applied to the eyes once or twice then give Sadaqah and more than twice then give Dam. Alamgiri, volume 1, page 241)

I pure fragrance such as musk. saffron, cloves, cardamom, or cinnamon is eaten in such a quantity that

sadaqah, however for women in all cases just 1 dam, The same rule applies to the covering of the head, any less than a sadaqah (reason for men giving 2 sadaqah ls l for applying fragrance & the other for covering the head Misbah.

Applying Mehndi to the whole beard whole hand means that Dam must be given Fragrance that
becomes a violation must be removed from the body or clothing (this is wajib) and if it is still not removed after fulfilling the Kalarah, then Dam becomes Wajib again Using jasmine oil or any other fragrant oil is the same as using fragrance (Alamgiri, volume 1, page 211/242)

The use of olive oil or sesame oil is the same as using fragrance, even it is not fragrant. However, if it is
used in food, in the nose, on wounds, or in the car then Sadaqah does not become Wajib Durr e Mukhtar
with Radd ul Mukhtar, volume 3 page 576)

If a wound is treated with fragrant medicine, then Dam becomes Wajib. If the medicine is used on this same wound several times or if another wound occurs before this one heals and this same medicine applied to that wound too, then only one Dam needs to be given However, if the second wound occurred once the first

around the waist like a tehband and the legs are not inserted into the trousers then no compensation needs to give (Alamgir, volume page 242)

If the sewn clothing is worn due to an illness then for the duration of the illness, this is only one violation. If the illness subsides with certainty but the clothing is still not removed, then this becomes a second violation (Durre Mukhtar with Shami, volume 3, page 578/579)

If someone has a fever at regular intervals, & on the day of the fever he wears sewn clothes and then
removes them the day after, and wears them again the 3rd day, then there is only 1 dam for as long as he
suffers that fever. If he wears all the clothes together unnecessarily then it is 1 dam; if one garment is due to necessity but another is unnecessary, then this means 2 dams (Sharh ul Lubab p 336)

If a man or woman cover the whole of their face or one-quarter of their faces or if a man covers the whole of his head or one-quarter of it then if the face or head was covered for a whole 12 hours or more then Damn must be given, but Sadaqah must be given if it was covered for less time. If less than one-quarter of the head or

56

57

is removed from different places then Damn is given if all the removed is equal to one quarter, if not then Sadaqah (Alamgirt, volume 1, page 243/ Radd ul Mukhtar, volume 3, page 579)

Removing hair from the whole neck or one whole armpit means that Dam must be given and If less then
Sadaqah, even if it is half or more. This ruling also applies to the removal of hair beneath the navel. Even
if all hair from both armpits is removed only one Dam is given. (Durre Mukhtar with Radd ul Mukhtar,
volume 3, page 580)

If the hair from the head, beard, armpits, and the whole body are all removed at the same time then only one Kafarah must be given. If hair is removed from different parts of the body at different times then a
Kafarah is given for each time. (Alamgiri, volume 1, page 243)

If hair fall without you touching them or if they fall due to any illness then no Kafarah needs to be given
(Sharhul Lubaab, page 363/364)

times, then four Dame need to be given. (Alamgiri, volume 1, page 244)

If a nail breaks and will not grow and so the rest of the nail is cut off, then there is no Kafarah. (Alamgiri,
volume 1, page 24)

KISSING OR INTERCOURSE WHILE IN THE STATE OF THRAAM

Touching or kissing with lust means that Dam must be given, even if there is no discharge. In the case of a wet dream, there is a penalty. (Radd-ul-Mukhtar, volume 3, page 587)

li in Umrah, sexual intercourse takes place before completing four rounds of Tawaal, then that Umrah is
Invalid, Dam must be given and Qaza of the Umrah needs to be done. If sexual intercourse takes place after four rounds of Tawaaf, then Dam needs to be given but the Umrah is valid. If sexual intercourse takes place after Tawaaf and Sa’y but before Halq then Dam must be given and if it happens after the Halq, then nothing. (Alamgiri, volume 1, page 245)

A boy or girl who are close to reaching the age of puberty, are considered nature, therefore if such a boy
is a Mahram then he can be taken as a travelling companion, and such a girl cannot travel without her
Mahram. (Bahar-e-Shariat, volume 6, page 14)

It is not permissible for a person performing Haj to wear an Ihram for Umrah between the 10th till the
13th of Dhul Hijjah. If he has worn this Ihraam then he must remove it and perform the Qada later as well as giving Dam. If he performs the Umrah then his Umrah is valid however It becomes Wajib upon him to give Dam. (Durr-e-Mukhtar with Radd-ul-Mukhtar, volume 3, page 477)

If someone wears the thraam for Umrah and then suddenly becomes ill and therefore cannot travel to
Makkah Muazzamah, then he must get someone to perform a sacrifice on his behalf in Haram Shareef and once the sacrifice is done he can remove his thraam. Once he has recovered from his Witness he should perform the Qaza of his Umrah (Bahar-e-Shariat, volume 6, page 149)

means that the Hajj of that year becomes Farz upon him and therefore if he knows that he does not have
the means to perform Hajj that year then he must leave Makkah Muazzamah before Eid. (Mansik, page 53/ Shami, volume 3, page 459/ Shami, volume 4, page 22)

If the pilgrim has completed all his acts of Umrah and now only needs to complete the act of Halq, then for him to cut or shave his own or someone else’s hair is allowed and he does not need to give Dam. (Irshad-ul- Sari, page 365)

If the pilgrim kills or flings lice from his body or clothes, if it was one lice then he must give roti; if 2 or 3 lice, then he must give one handful of wheat, and if more than 3 lice then he must give Sadaqah (Bahar-e-Shariat, volume 6, page 145)

There is no harm in a Muhrim covering the palms of his hands or his feet with a blanket. (rddul Mumtar,

companion, after putting on his own lhraam, makes the Niyyat for the thraam of the unconscious companion and reads Talbiyyah on his behalf, the Thraam of the unconscious companion is done.

Now if the unconscious companion does any act that is forbidden while in Ihraam, then a penalty becomes Wajib upon him and not the companion that made the Niyat of Thraam on his behalf. (Bahar-e-Shariat volume 6, page 42)

If during Umrah someone performs Tawaaf while he is without Wudhu or while in the state of impurity, then while he is in Makkah Muazzamah he must make up for the Tawaaf while in the state of Wudhu or purity If he does not make up for the Tawaaf, then he must sacrifice a goat. (Alamgiri, volume 1, page 247/ Lubaab Ma’a Sharhuh, page 390)

snake, scorpion, mosquito, bug fly, etc. (Bahar-e- Shariat, volume 6, page 46)

VISITING THE BLESSED SHRINE OF THE HOLY PROPHET

Every pilgrim should ensure that he pays his respect in the court of Allali’s Beloved Prophet, der this because this is an enormous blessing and a superb means of fulfillment of one’s needs. In the Holy, Qur’an Allah emphasizes the Importance of attending the blessed grave of the Prophet me in the
following manner.

‘If they cause harm themselves (by committing sins), then they should come to you and ask Allah Jee for forgiveness, and the Messenger ask for their forgiveness, then, without doubt, they will find Allah’s
door to be the Most-Forgiving and Merciful! (Chapter 4. verse 64)

Imam Subki in Shir-ul-Siqaam and Sheikh Abdul Hay Muhaddith Dihiwi in Jazb-ul-Quloob have both
mentioned that our Islamic scholars believe that this Ayat applies to the period after the passing away of the Holy Prophet be, and not just during his lifetime, Eminent scholars of all 4 schools of thought, in

of Judgement, I will be his intercessor or without (Kitab-ul-Du’afa-Kabeer, volume 3, page 457)
Another Hadith ‘Il someone comes to my grave Intentionally, then on the Day of Judgement, they will
be under my protection. (Shu’ab-ul-Imaan, volume 3, page 490)

Allama Ibn-ul-Humaam mentions in fath-ul-Qadeer that ‘In my opinion, it is better than the journey be
made with the specific intention of paying, respect to the grave of Hazrat Muhammad, so much
so that even the intention of going to the Shareef should not be made, because in this there more respect for our Dear Holy Prophet Muhammad we When I attend the Holy grave than his attendance at the Masjid Shareef will also be included or he can make the intention for the Masjid in another
Journey’ (Fath-ul-Qadeer, page 180)

When on route to Madinah Tayibah, he should spend the journey reciting Durood-O-Salaam, naats, etc. As soon as he sees Madinah Tayibal, he should cleanse his heart and mind from any disrespectful or undesirable

72

73

Once he reaches the Baab ul-Baqi, he should say

الصلوة والسلام علیک یارسول الله

and then wait there for a short while, as if he is waiting for permission from the Holy Prophet Muhammad for entrance. Then he should read;

بسم اللہ والسلام على رسول الله، اللهم افتح لي ابواب رحمتك

and enter the Masjid with his right foot first. If his passion gives him a chance and it is not any of the
Makruh times, then he should read 2 Rakaat Namaaz. Tahiyyatul Masjid inside the Garden of Paradise.

In the first Rakat, after Surah w he should read Surah on and in the second Rakaat he should read Surah Ikhlas Then he should perform a prostration of gratefulness because Allah has blessed him with this
wonderful opportunity.

Now, he should lower his head in humility and stand in front of the Holy Tomb from the direction of the
Blessed feet of his Magnificent Master all

must also be mentioned that the Holy wall (Jali Mubarak) should not be touched or kissed as this is
regarded disrespectful. Now, with respect & reverence, he should read the following Salat-O-Salam in a
medium voice, such that his voice should neither be too loud, which will destroy his virtues, nor too quiet, which is also not Sunnat:

السلام علیک ایها النبي ورحمة الله وبركاثہ

السلام علیک یارسول اليه السلام عليک يا خير خلق الله

السلام عليک ياشفيع المذنبین

السلام عليك وعلى الك واستارک وامتک اجمعین

This is not the only Durood Shareef that can be read in front of the Roza Mubarak; other Durood Shreefs can also be read. If this Durood Shree cannot be memorised by heart then reading

الصلوة والسلام علیک یارسول الله

is enough and it is better that Durood Shreel is not read less than 70 times Continuously proclaim

76

77

السلام علیک یا وزیر رسول الله
السلام عليک ياصاحب رسول الله
في الغار ورحمه الله وبرکاتہ

Then he should move further to the right towards the last small hole and present Salaam at the Holy grave of Hazrat Umar-e-Farooq – in the following manner:

السلام علیک یا امیر المومنین
السلام عليک يام الاربعين
السلام عليک ياعز الإسلام
والمسلمين ورحمه اللير وبرگائہ

Then he should move slightly to his left so that he is standing in between both the holes and he should
present Salaam in the Court of both the Auspicious Khulafa together in the following manner:

السلام عليکما یا خليفتى رسول الله
السلام عليکما یا وزیری رسول الل

reading Durood Shareef because the reward of every good deed is multiplied by 50,000.

According to his financial capabilities, he should try to help the people of Madinah Tayibah, especially the poor. After every Farz Namaaz, or at least every morning and night, he should offer his Salat-O-Salaam at the Roza Mubarak.

Whether he is inside the city or outside, whenever he sees the Ghumbad (Green Dome) he should instantly face it respectfully with his hands tied and offer his Salat-O-Salaam, he should remember that it is disrespectful to walk away without offering his Salat-O-Salaam.

VIRTUES OF NAMAZ INSIDE MASJIDE HARAM & MASJIDE NABVI

Hazrat Anas narrates that the Holy Prophet we abe, we said: ‘for a person to read Namaaz in his home
is equal to the reward of one Namaaz; for him to read it in the Masjid of his neighborhood is equal to 50
Namaaz; to read it in the Central Masjid is equal to

CAVE OF THAUR

This is the Blessed cave where Our Beloved Master (صلى الله عليه و سلم) and Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه spent 3 nights during their migration from Makkah to Madinah. This cave is on the left of Makkah Mukaramah, about 4 kilometers towards Masfalah.

CAVE OF HIRA

Before announcing his prophethood hood the Holy Prophet Muhammad Al used to come to this cave to
spend time in meditation. This is also the cave where he received his first revelation. This cave is situated 4 kilometers towards the east of Masjid-ul-Haraam.

JANNAT-UL-MA’LAA
