Bismilla Hirrahma Nirraheem

Allahumma Faatiras Samaawaati Wal Ardhi Aalimalghaybi Wash shahaadati Antar Rahmaanur Raheem.

Allahumma Inni Aahadu Ilayka Fihaazihil Hayaatiddunyaa Wa Ash Hadu Allaailaaha Illa Anta Wahdaka Laasharika Laka Wa Ash Hadu Anna Muhammadan Abduka Wa Rasuluka.

Falaa Takilni Ilaa Nafsi FaInnaka Intakilni Ilaa Nafsi Tuqarribni Ilash Sharri Watubaa Idnee Minal Khayri Wa Inni Laa Attakilo Illa Birahmatika Faj Alli Indaka Ahadan Tuwaffihi Ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati Innaka Laa Tukhlifulmiyaad.

Wa Sallallaahu Ta’alaa Alaa Khayri Khalqihi Muhammadinw Wa Aalihi Wa As-haabihi Aajmain. Birahmatika Yaa Arhamar Raahimeen.

English Translation

“In the Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful. O Allah! The Creator of the skies and the earth, the Knower of the hidden and the open. You are The Beneficent, The Merciful.

O Allah! I promise You in this earthly life, and I bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship except You. You are One and Only without any partner, and I bear witness that Sayyidina Hazrat Muhammad (ﷺ) is Your servant and Your Messenger.

(O Allah!) Please do not leave me to my own self, because if You abandon me to my own desires, I might be drawn towards evil and away from goodness. I have no support except Your Mercy. So, accept my promise with You, to be kept till the Day of Judgement. Truly, You never break a promise.

And may the blessings of Allah, The Exalted, be on His best creation, Sayyidina Hazrat Muhammad (ﷺ), and on his family and all his companions. With Your Mercy, O The Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”

Urdu Translation (اردو ترجمہ)

بسم اللہ الرحمٰن الرحیم

اے اللہ! آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا کرنے والے، غیب اور ظاہر کو جاننے والے، آپ ہی رحمٰن اور رحیم ہیں۔ اے اللہ! میں اس دنیاوی زندگی میں آپ سے عہد کرتا ہوں اور گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ آپ کے سوا کوئی عبادت کے لائق نہیں۔ آپ اکیلے ہیں، آپ کا کوئی شریک نہیں۔ اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ ہمارے سردار حضرت محمد (ﷺ) آپ کے بندے اور آپ کے رسول ہیں۔

اے اللہ! مجھے میرے حال پر نہ چھوڑ، کیونکہ اگر تو نے مجھے میرے نفس کے حوالے کر دیا تو وہ مجھے برائی کے قریب اور بھلائی سے دور کر دے گا۔ اور مجھے تیری رحمت کے سوا کوئی سہارا نہیں۔ پس میرے اس عہد کو اپنے پاس قبول فرما جو قیامت کے دن تک قائم رہے گا۔ بیشک تو وعدہ خلافی نہیں کرتا۔

اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی رحمتیں ہوں اس کی بہترین مخلوق حضرت محمد (ﷺ) پر، اور ان کی آل اور تمام اصحاب پر۔ اے سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والے، اپنی رحمت کے صدقے اسے قبول فرما۔

Virtues & Benefits

The Ahad Nama is traditionally recited to:

  • Renew one’s faith and commitment to Allah.

  • Seek refuge from the whispers of the Nafs (ego/desires).

  • Ask for Allah’s mercy and protection until the Day of Judgement.
