List of Surahs in the Quran

 

The following are lists of the surahs of the Qur’an arranged in various (hopefully) useful orders. There are three lists:

  1. Traditional order: – this is the traditional order of the surahs
  2. Chronological order: this is the general order of the revelation of the surahs
  3. Alphabetical order: arranged according to the English transliteration of the surahs

The usage is as follows: 1. the normal order of the surahs; 2. the surahs in order of revelation (useful when following abrogation); 3. when surahs are mentioned by name rather than number.

 

  1. Traditional order of surahs: this is the usual order found in the Qur’an
