WHO IS SHE?
She is the Beloved Wife of the Beloved Rasool ﷺ. Hazrat Ummul Momineen Hazrat Sayyidatuna A’isha Radi Allahu Anha is also from amongst those who showed immense kindness and generosity towards the Ahle Sufah. She truly and dearly loved and cared for the Beloved Rasool Sayyiduna Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ, and is that fortunate one who saw the Archangel, Hazrat Jibra’eel Alaihis Salaam.
Hazrat Sayyiduna Abu Salama Radi Allahu Anhu reports that Ummul Momineen Hazrat Sayyidatuna A’isha Siddiqa Radi Allahu Anha said to the Beloved Rasool ﷺ, ‘I saw you keep your blessed hand on the neck of the horse as you spoke to Hazrat Dahiya Kalbi Radi Allahu Anhu.’
The Beloved ﷺ said, ‘Did you see him?’ She said, ‘Yes I did.’ The Beloved Rasool ﷺ said, ‘That was Jibra’eel Ameen Alaihis Salaam and he was conveying Salaam to you.’
Sayyidatuna A’isha Siddiqa Radi Allahu Anha then said, ‘May there be Salaam and the Mercy of Allah upon him as well, and may Allah bestow a blessed reward upon him who met the guest. What a blessed guest and what a blessed companion.’
WHAT IS HER BLESSED NAME?
Her blessed name is A’isha the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique Radi Allahu Anhu.
Sayyidatuna A’isha Siddiqa was one of the most knowledgeable women in the History of Islam and had in-depth knowledge of Deen. She was blessed with narrating numerous Hadith of Rasoolullah ﷺ and was an expert in jurisprudence. She was also well versed in treating the ill and the medicines required.
It is reported that Hazrat Urwah Radi Allahu Anhu would say to Ummul Momineen Sayyidatuna A’isha Radi Allahu Anha, ‘O my Beloved mother! I am not astonished by your judicial excellence, because you are the beloved wife of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah ﷺ and the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique Radi Allahu Anhu. Also, neither am I amazed by how much knowledge you have regarding poetry and regarding the traditions and history of the Arabs, because you are the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique Radi Allahu Anhu and he was known to have deep knowledge concerning all of this, compared to the others.’
What really amazes me is your expertise in medicine. How, when, and from where did you acquire this knowledge? She Radi Allahu Anha struck me on my shoulder and said,
‘O Urwah Radi Allahu Anhu! Towards the final years of Nabi Kareem ﷺ (in this physical world), He ﷺ was given poison, so numerous delegations of (physicians) would come to him (from different places) and give the treatment. Also, I would treat Nabi Kareem ﷺ based on the (medical) advice which they would give. It is for this reason that I also became aware of this science as well.’
HER CHARACTER & EXCELLENCE
She was a personality who divorced herself from the materialistic world and from its worldly pleasures, and after the (apparent) passing away of her Beloved, The Beloved Rasool ﷺ she always tore in His ﷺ departure.
The Ulama of Tasawwuf have said that to be continuously yearning to meet Almighty Allah, and to abstain from lamenting at the loss of the materialistic world, is Tasawwuf.
Hazrat Sayyiduna Muslim bin Sabeeh Radi Allahu Anhu states that whenever Hazrat Sayyiduna Masrooq Radi Allahu Anhu would narrate a Hadith which is related to Hazrat Ummul Momineen A’isha Siddiqa Radi Allahu Anha he would say,
‘This Hadith was reported to me by the beloved of the Beloved of Allah ﷺ and the truthful, the daughter of the truthful, whose innocence has been mentioned in the Holy Qur’an.’ [Musnad Imam Ahmed Ibn Hambal]
Ummul Momineen Hazrat Sayyidatuna A’isha Radi Allahu Anha states, ‘Once I mentioned to the Beloved Rasool ﷺ, ‘Ya Rasool’Allah ﷺ! How do you love me?’ Rasoolullah ﷺ said, ‘like the knot on a rope.’ She says, ‘after that, I would (often) ask, ‘Ya Rasool’Allah ﷺ! How is the knot?’ He ﷺ would say, ‘It is firmly established as before.’
‘I saw Sayyidatuna A’isha Radi Allahu Anha distributing 70 000 (seventy thousand) dirhams, whereas she was at that time wearing a cloak which had patches sewn onto it.’
