Durood e Ibrahim
Durood-e-Ibrahimi, also known as the Prayer of Ibrahim, is a form of supplication and blessing that is sent to our Holy Prophet Muhammad. In the Quran, Allah mentions that He and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet (PBUH) and commands us to recite and send Durood to him. Durood Ibrahim is one of the most frequently recited Duroods, often recited during the Prayers after the Attahiyat. In this beautiful Durood, we pray to Allah to bestow peace and blessings upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family.
Virtues of Durood-e-Ibrahimi:
“Indeed, on the Day of Judgment, the one who recites more Durood upon me will be closer to me.” (Tirmidhi)
“Whoever recites Durood upon me once, Allah grants him ten blessings, forgives ten of his sins, and raises his status.” (Nisaai-Sharif)
Durood Ibrahim in Arabic:
اللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلٰٓى اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلٰٓى اِبْرٰهِيمَ وَعَلٰٓى اٰلِ اِبْرٰهِيمَ ۭاِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَّجِيدٌ
اللّٰهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد ٍوَّعَلٰٓى اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَابَارَكْتَ عَلٰٓى اِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَعَلٰٓى اٰلِ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ ۭاِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ
Durood Ibrahim in Roman English:
“Allahumma Salle ‘Alaa Muhammadinw Wa’Alaa Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Sallaeta ‘Alaa Ibraaheema Wa’Alaa Aaali Ibraaheema Innaka Hameedum Majeed. Allahumma Baarik ‘Alaa Muhammadinw Wa’Alaa Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Baarakta ‘Alaa Ibraaheema Wa’Alaa Aaali Ibraaheema Innaka Hameedum Majeed.”
Durood Ibrahim in English:
“O Allah, send peace upon Prophet Muhammad and upon the family of Prophet Muhammad as You sent peace upon Prophet Ibrahim and the family of Prophet Ibrahim. Indeed, You are praiseworthy and glorious. O Allah, bless Prophet Muhammad and the family of Prophet Muhammad as You blessed Prophet Ibrahim and the family of Prophet Ibrahim. Indeed, You are praiseworthy and glorious.”
